Want non-US VPN access with multiple connections

Want non-US VPN access with multiple connections

Want non-US VPN access with multiple connections
For various reasons, I've been looking at VPN providers. One trouble spot is that the ones that seem to take what they are doing seriously (providing a privacy service) seem to all have a single-connection limit per account. This is no good for my anticipated use case - one "always on" connection here at home and potentially two more to use when I'm mobile on my phone and/or laptop. Plus my kid is going to be traveling abroad this summer so I want to have him set up too so I'm not worrying he's logging into gmail over open wifi or something.
Basically I need like 3-4 simultaneous connections. So I started looking at low-end Linux VPS space, thinking I could just run multiple VPN connections into the server and then route those out through whatever VPN service I wind up using.
Then I got to thinking I don't really know how I'd implement that. A little voice keeps saying "Squid" but I think that's nonsense.
Then I got to thinking further that if I'm renting a server anyway, if I choose the location and vendor carefully I potentially don't need the second hop through a VPN provider. And I still don't know how I'd implement it.

What is a VPN?

VPNs (Virtual Private Networks) were first used by companies to enable their employees to securely access internal systems such as email remotely (e.g. from home or while on business trips). Today they are increasingly being used for personal use by individuals to protect their privacy while online in public places (e.g. when using the wi-fi connection in a cafe) or in a country where the internet is censored / blocked (e.g. China, Saudi Arabia).

Why do I need a VPN?

Whether youre an expat living in a foreign country where the internet is heavily regulated, a mobile user constantly on the road, or just someone concerned with maintaining their privacy online, having aVPNis becoming essential.
